Climate Institute

Founded in 1986 in Washington, DC, the Climate Institute has been one of the world’s first organizations focused solely on addressing climate change. Its work helped move climate change onto the international agenda by fostering collaboration between nations and advancing a wide range of climate solutions.

Through strong collaboration with partners, much has been accomplished to advance effective international climate policy. The Climate Institute is proud of its first 35 years, during which it has contributed not only to pulling back from disastrous climate change, but also to preventing very serious and disruptive impacts on the environment and society.

Since its inception, the Climate Institute has been a global leader in facilitating and organizing climate discussions, which have improved climate change awareness, action and results. Its work has a global reach, and the organization recognizes the importance of integrating marginalized and poorer nations into international discussions, as they are often on the front lines of climate change impacts. Its broad vision and creative innovation will continue to define its work.

ENERGIES 2050 and the Climate Institute have developed a long-standing strategic partnership, bringing together their expertise to advance climate action, energy transition, cultural dialogue and inclusive governance. They are also co-founders of the Global Panorama Project, which seeks to bridge arts, cultural heritage and Indigenous knowledge within the broader context of climate change, reinforcing the role of culture as a driver of dialogue, awareness and collective action.
