ENERGIES 2050 presented the European project RECinMED, “A multitude of inclusive Renewable Energy Communities in the Mediterranean Region” during the INVECE – Green Innovation and Energy Communities Conference, held on 26 June 2025 in Nice at IMREDD (Mediterranean Institute for Risk, Environment and Sustainable Development), Université Côte d’Azur.

This one-day in-person event was organised by CAPENERGIES within the framework of the Interreg Italy-France Maritime 2021-2027 programme, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) objective of the EU Cohesion Policy.

The INVECE project (Green Innovation and Energy Communities) aims to support cooperation between institutions, research centres, businesses and citizens in order to develop Renewable Energy Community models and design policies promoting green innovation and the energy transition at both local and cross-border levels.

During the conference, ENERGIES 2050 presented the main objectives and outcomes of the RECinMED project, highlighting the approaches developed to support the emergence and deployment of Renewable Energy Communities across Mediterranean territories. The event also provided valuable opportunities to exchange experiences with stakeholders from research, industry and public authorities.

CAPENERGIES, the competitiveness cluster dedicated to the energy transition, brings together nearly 520 members, including major industrial groups, a large number of SMEs and start-ups, research and training centres, local authorities and financial actors across Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Corsica, Guadeloupe and the Principality of Monaco.

The conference provided an important platform to strengthen synergies between European initiatives and to contribute to discussions on the development and scaling-up of Renewable Energy Communities in Mediterranean territories.

The detailed programme is available in the attached document (in French only).

    RECinMED

RECinMED, involving 11 partners from 9 countries, aims to foster inclusive Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) by testing innovative solutions. It will create a transnational cooperation forum to enhance networks and knowledge sharing on energy communities. Three Working Groups will focus on pilot actions in urban, rural, and island contexts, addressing specific challenges in each area. The goal is to identify, validate, and scale solutions for energy transition across different regions, ensuring broader adoption and positive environmental impact.
