SSCC

Founded in 2016 in Colombia, South-South Cooperation Council for Sustainable Development (SSCC) is a global network dedicated to fostering South-South dialogue as a pathway to peace, cooperation and sustainable development. Since its inception, SSCC has brought together policymakers, academic experts, civil society actors and cultural practitioners from across the Global South to explore innovative mechanisms for advancing peace inclusive and supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A growing global network across the Global South and beyond

Over the years, SSCC has expanded its activities and partnerships across the Americas, Africa, the Arab world and the Asia-Pacific region. This growth reflects a shared conviction that sustainable peace and development must be grounded in dialogue, mutual understanding and locally rooted solutions, shaped by the realities and knowledge of each region.

Through its network, SSCC supports and connects initiatives addressing key global challenges. These include cultural diplomacy and intercultural dialogue, responses to climate change and environmental degradation, disaster risk and resilience, as well as the role of arts and culture in fostering a culture of peace and social cohesion.

ENERGIES 2050 and South-South Cooperation Council for Sustainable Development (SSCC) are strategic and long-standing and committed partners, combining their respective expertise in climate action, energy transition, cultural dialogue and inclusive governance.

Sharing a common vision rooted in justice, cooperation and locally grounded solutions, ENERGIES 2050 supports SSCC’s initiatives through joint programmes, events and platforms that connect climate, culture and peace at regional and global levels.

In 2025, this collaboration notably took shape through the programme Promoting awareness of the value of ancestral knowledge of Indigenous peoples to protect the environment. This emerging initiative currently spans South and Central America, Asia and Africa, and will expand to Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands in 2026. The programme was launched during a dedicated forum held in Cartagena de Indias on 1-2 July 2025. Follow-up forums and cultural festivals are planned in Manila in 2026 and Accra in 2027.

This partnership also aligns with the Global Panorama Project, which seeks to bridge arts, cultural heritage and Indigenous knowledge within the broader context of climate change, reinforcing the role of culture as a driver of dialogue, awareness and collective action.

Overall, these collaborations reflect a shared ambition to strengthen South-South dialogue, amplify diverse and often underrepresented voices, and translate collective knowledge into concrete action in response to global environmental and societal challenges.

At the governance level, Stéphane Pouffary, founder of ENERGIES 2050, is a member of SSCC’s Scientific and Academic Board, while Viktor Sebek, Chairman of SSCC, serves on the Scientific Committee of ENERGIES 2050, illustrating the depth and reciprocity of this partnership.
