The initiative
CAMPUS 4 IMPACT stands out for its commitment to offering diversified training on the challenges of sustainable development and the fight against climate change.
Intended for a wide audience, the academy offers workshops, online and in-person courses, to meet the needs of the curious and professionals wishing to enhance their skills. Programs are well adapted to public and private players, addressing crucial themes such as adaptation, resilience, sustainable finance, ecological and energy transition, climate justice, building and the built environment, decarbonization, as well as the management of cities and territories. By bringing together experts and learners, the academy actively contributes to educate and raise awareness around the major contemporary environmental challenges, and to build a community of stakeholders in the various countries where ENERGIES 2050 operates.
Genesis of the initiative
CAMPUS 4 IMPACT was born in a global context marked by a growing awareness of environmental issues. Faced with this alarming situation, a major challenge has arisen: how to raise awareness, educate and mobilize a wide audience, from citizens to decision-makers, to encourage the adoption of practices conducive to sustainable development and climate resilience? The complexity of the issues at stake and the diversity of the audiences concerned make this task particularly challenging. It’s not enough to simply pass on information, it’s crucial to train people to understand the dynamics at stake, to make informed decisions, and to act in a coherent and coordinated way to make a real and lasting impact.
Challenges
Lack of tools, lack of understanding = Lack of action
One of the main challenges is the lack of appropriate tools and understanding, which leads to a lack of meaningful action. Individuals often find themselves overwhelmed by the seriousness of information linked to the climate crisis, which can lead to severe eco-anxiety. The best way to combat this anxiety is to provide people with the knowledge and tools they need to understand and act on the situation, thereby restoring their sense of control and power.
Elitist vocabulary and inaccessible subjects
Another major obstacle is the elitism of vocabulary and the inaccessibility of subjects related to sustainable development and ecological transition. These subjects are often approached using complex and technical terms, making them difficult for the general public to understand. This limits the involvement of a significant proportion of the population, who feel excluded from discussions and solutions.
Lack of concrete, applicable plans
Advice and information on the ecological transition are often disconnected from people’s day-to-day realities. There is a lack of concrete action plans adapted to people’s experiences on the ground. CAMPUS 4 IMPACT strives to bridge this gap by offering practical, accessible and directly applicable training courses. These courses aim to reconnect participants with tangible solutions and strengthen their ability to take action on a daily basis.
Missions and actions
-
Navigating complexity, a systemic approach: The academy adopts a systemic approach to help learners understand and navigate the complexity of climate issues. This methodology unravels the interconnections between different environmental, social and economic factors, offering concrete, integrated solutions for a sustainable transition.
-
Making it real: local adaptation & hands-on training: The academy strives to adapt its training courses to local conditions to maximize their impact. By taking into account the cultural, economic and environmental contexts of each region, programs are contextualized to meet real needs, guaranteeing relevant and applicable solutions. At the same time, training courses are designed to be practical and directly usable in the field, enabling learners to immediately apply the knowledge they have acquired, thus promoting an effective ecological transition adapted to everyday realities.
-
Collaborative learning, creating a committed & responsible community: The Academy favors horizontal and collaborative learning, where learners exchange and enrich content together. This method strengthens cohesion and the feeling of belonging to a community of change agents. By equipping learners with the necessary skills and tools, it empowers them to become leaders of change.
