Despite ever more worrying realities and repeated warnings from a majority of actors (scientists, representatives of the public, private or civil society sectors), we can only note the amplification of the crises facing our societies . Man must act quickly and in a sustainable way, faced with challenges that are increasingly complex and which are reinforced and multiplied with each other. To this must be added the consequences of climate change that exacerbate the unmanaged challenges of yesterday and today.

While the constraints may seem insurmountable, 2015 was a pivotal year for the future of humanity, including the entry into force of the Sustainable Development Goals and the establishment of a new international agreement on climate The 21st Conference of the Parties (COP) in Paris in December 2015. To enter into force, the Paris Agreement had to be ratified by 55 States Parties representing 55% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. These conditions were reached in early October and the Paris Agreement entered into force on 4 November, only a few days before the start of the 22nd Conference of the Parties in Marrakesh.

COP 22 (or COP Conference of the Parties) is announced as the “Implementation Conference”. Indeed, beyond the success of the Paris Conference, it is still necessary to operationalize the objectives by confronting the challenges of implementation. COP 22 will therefore play an essential role in this regard. The progress made in 2015 should make it possible to invite the international community to continue to raise the level of ambition in the fight against global warming by transforming the objectives enshrined in the Paris Agreement into realities.
