Bonn Climate Change Conference

May 2017

Before the 23rd Conference of the Parties (CoP23 – to be held from 6 to 17 November in Bonn, Germany, under the chairmanship of Fiji) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Bonn on climate change (known as “Pre-COP”) took place between 8 and 18 May 2017 in Germany. This included advancing the technical and operational modalities of the negotiations. The meeting included the third part of the first meeting of the Ad Hoc Working Group of the Paris Agreement (APA 1-3) and the 46th session of the Subsidiary Subsidiary Bodies: Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 46) and The Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 46).

The Bonn Conference brought together more than 3,900 participants, including some 2,000 government representatives, with the remainder divided between international institutions and UN agencies as well as representatives of civil society. ENERGIES 2050 is an accredited observer to the UNFCCC negotiations.

ENERGIES 2050 was present during the two weeks of negotiations at the Climate Conference in May 2017 in Bonn. Several of its members participated in the two weeks of negotiations in support of delegations and took part in various working groups and side events.
