ENERGIES 2050 and SABER-ABREC are at the origin of a solidarity carbon initiative: ethiCarbon Afrique®. The aim of this initiative is to contribute to the African energy revolution by financing concrete projects on the continent, low carbon and high environmental, social and ethical values. It is also a question of fighting the consequences of the climate change of which the African continent is the first victim.

Aware of the need to go beyond the existing carbon mechanisms, the ethiCarbon Afrique® initiative is an innovative tool of “carbon solidarity” in the service of Africa. Launched on 6 December 2015 in Paris on the occasion of the Climate Conference (COP 21), ethiCarbon Afrique® aims to enable everyone, regardless of their country of residence and sector of activity, To calculate its greenhouse gas emissions and to balance them on the basis of an “ethical and solidarity price” for carbon. The money thus collected is then used to finance projects in Africa.

The funds mobilized are used, in equal shares, for projects:

Mitigation, ie, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. These projects will contribute to the fight against climate change and support Africa on the road to low-carbon, resilient and united development.

Adaptation, ie projects that enable vulnerable populations and communities to cope with the adverse effects of climate change.
